Starship – We Built This City – Back in the UK Charts!

STARSHIP – WE BUILT THIS CITY – BACK IN THE UK CHARTS!

Starship-2098719

80’s soft rock group Starship have made a re-entry into the UK Top 40 singles chart this week (March 2nd 2014) with We Built This City after 29 years since the song was originally released.

The song was Starship’s debut single and only managed to reach number 12 in the uk chart back in 1985 although it was a US Number one.

The song has managed to make its way back into the UK chart due to an advertising campaign featuring a little girl riding her bike with her cat in the basket singing along to the song for the UK mobile phone company, Three.

Help support Starship and lets see if we can get a higher chart placement this time around. Go out and buy your copy this week!

Just goes to show that some 80’s hits are still popular amongst the younger generation.

August Camp Radio – Returning to an Internet Radio near you!

** Please note, that although our radio server is now currently back online and the “Playing Now” page is viewable again, we are not able to play requests until we go live again on Saturday 14th September. We have had some requests coming through, sorry, but these will not be played. Please come back on Saturday and try again!. **

After our closure on September 1st 2013, August Camp Radio has been undergoing some renovation. We decided that, although small, we couldn’t close and let our listeners down.

Over the past week, our main radio server has had a small overhaul and a little spit and polish and given a new home in the August Camp offices.

From Saturday 14th September 2013 we will be returning!…… Only with a few changes!

We have a new logo and this website has been given a lick of paint too!

The biggest difference is our playlist has been sent to the gym and made to work up a sweat! It’s lost loads of weight! We have trimmed it down to be around 90% 80’s music now, which will be our main format. Obviously, we understand that there were some good tunes around in the 70’s and 90’s and we have left the most popular ones in. We will also be adding some more muscle to our playlist with some never played (on ACR before) tunes too!

Our Twitter, Facebook and Google+ pages have also been updated to reflect the new look August Camp Radio.

Currently our broadcast stream is playing a loop of 80’s test transmissions, still worth a listen! But the fun begins again this coming Saturday 14th September when we will let the radio server take the reins and broadcast you a non-stop, news and DJ free mix of great music! All at 128kbs!

You can tune in via our usual websites, Tunein, Internet-Radio and AudioRealm. Links are on the Listen Now page.

Thanks for choosing August Camp Radio! If your one of our previous listener’s then welcome back! If your new to us, thanks for listening and hope you stay!

Don’t forget! Old or new you are welcome to get in touch with us via our social media pages, or via the contact us page on our website!

Mark, August Camp Radio.

That’s All Folks!

August Camp Radio ceased broadcasting at midnight on September 1st 2013. We played out with half hour of some themed “goodbye” songs, ending with the classic Neil Sedaka and Our Last Song Together.

Our broadcast server has now been switched off and one of our two broadcast streams deactivated. The internet-radio.com stream is still up for a while longer yet, but is just playing a loop of test transmission music.

Our twitter, facebook¬†and google+ pages will be removed over the next few weeks. The ACR website will also be removed, a static “remembrance” page will be in its place.

Our reason for closure was simply lack of interest. Although we had a regular daily listener count of around 10-15 (which is quite small, but not bad with the huge choice of internet stations out there) We didn’t get a lot of listener interaction. Also broadcast streaming costs were becoming to expensive and the only way to continue would have been to make August Camp Radio fund itself through advertising.

On that note, I would like to take this last opportunity to thank all our listeners who enjoyed our format or no DJ chat, no adverts and non-stop 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00’s and the best of today!

There will be no further updates to this website before removal.

Thanks again for choosing August Camp Radio….

August Camp Radio – The End.

So the end of August Camp Radio is less than 36 hours away, sadly our time of broadcasting is drawing to a close.

Please join us (if you can) between 23:30 and midnight on Friday 31st August 2013 (British Summertime GMT+1) for our “Goodbye Songs” half hour.

We will be playing our last half hour out with songs all related to saying goodbye. I will be playing these LIVE for the first time in ACR¬†history! Our final song will be Neil Sedaka and “This will be our last song together” which I felt was very appropriate!

Join me LIVE at 23:30 for August Camp Radio’s last half hour!

Thanks for listening!

The Last Few Days Of August Camp Radio

So we are into our final week of broadcasting here on August Camp Radio. We are still scheduled to shut down our broadcasts from midnight (British Summer Time GMT+1) on Sunday September 1st 2013.

With no surprise, our main server has gone a bit AWOL and decided to not let us make any final adjustments! If we gain control again we will be setting up our special final song, which will be played just before midnight. Make sure you tune in to hear our last song.

Also, please note that one of our broadcast streams has been set up to sign off without warning, this will affect listeners on our streamsolutions server, affecting Nokia Radio listeners and some listeners through some of the internet radio search websites.

To ensure you can tune into us, please either use Tunein.com or Internet-radio.com

Thanks for listening.
